Suzhou gearing towards further integration into YDR

Xiangcheng district of Suzhou city launched an investment promotion fair Saturday at Shanghai National Convention Center in a bid to seek further integration into the Shanghai Hongqiao Business District, an international hub for China’s further opening-up. 

Xiangcheng District will build a new economic industrial highland spearheaded by the digital economy and a highland for coordinated regional high-quality development, build the district into a new center for futuristic Suzhou and an international city by upgrading the functions of exhibitions, commerce, and transportation.

Xiangcheng District will also be built into an international railway hub, a demonstration zone for Sino-Japanese regional development cooperation, a legal digital currency pilot zone, and the joined development between Hongqiao and Xiangcheng, which will inject strength into the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Delta. 

"We will launch a number of policies, platforms, projects, and activities to solidly promote the integrated development between Xiangcheng and the Hongqiao International Hub.The most important thing is that we will develop six new economic industries,further promote the coordinated development among the cities in the Yangtze River Delta promote technological innovation so as to join hands to promote the development of future industries and participate in international competition."said Ji Jing, CPC Secretary and District Mayor of Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City

Changning District and Jiading District of Shanghai and Xiangcheng District of Suzhou signed an agreement on regional strategic cooperation centering on Hongqiao as an international hub for China’s opening-up. The two parties will explore exchanges in the areas of resource allocation and collaboration, industrial coordination, urban planning, and ecological environment construction.

In the meantime, Xiangcheng District will launch 16 investment projects in collaboration with Shanghai. 

11 cooperation projects were unveiled and 34 investment projects were signed. The cooperation projects include the Innovation Center of Shanghai Robot Industry Technology Research Institute and the Yangtze River Delta Digital Finance Research Institute.

The Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council, released in December 2019 a new development plan to build the Yangtze River Delta into an economic powerhouse that will add to the country's high-quality development and create a strong and active economic growth nucleus and a gateway for further opening up the economy.

Under the new plan, substantial progress will be made in boosting the integrated development of the delta region by 2025, including fostering a number of world-class industrial clusters and becoming a key national innovation hub. By 2035, the area would become the most influential and dynamic growth pole of the economy.
