East China’s Jiangsu province held a teleconference on the battle against the spreading COVID-19 virus Thursday in Nanjing. Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, requested more efforts to curb the spread of the virus by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on the prevention and control of the epidemic, implement the spirit of the important instructions by Premier Li Keqiang and Vice Premier Sun Chunlan.
Wu said efforts must be made to deal with the epidemic as quickly as possible as it is related to the overall situation of the province and the country. Governments at all levels and departments must enhance political stance and strengthen their responsibilities, strengthen their confidence in winning the victory, and win the battle against epidemic prevention and control.
The Governor requested more measures to gain a full understanding of the current severe situation of the epidemic, resolutely overcome the slackening of vigilance, and scientifically and effectively strengthen prevention and control on the basis of careful analysis and judgment.
All parts of the province, including Nanjing, should make every effort to strengthen the primary task and top priority of epidemic prevention and control, adhere to problem-oriented and effect-oriented, find and fill up loopholes in the work, and implement detailed prevention and control measures, said the governor.
Wu Zhenglong requested further measures in a scientific and pragmatic spirit to grasp the law of spread of the epidemic and the characteristics of the spread of delta strains, so as to strengthen prevention and control more systematically and accurately, effectively cut the transmission chain, and strictly prevent the spillover of the confirmed cases outside the province.
He said information release must be strengthened and improved to ensure timely, transparent, and authoritative, smooth transmission of people’s appeals and complaints and address the basic needs and individual requirements of the people in centralized isolation points, closed communities, and closed areas, and strengthen psychological counseling.
