East China’s Jiangsu province has spared no efforts to strengthen healthcare services amid heightened epidemic prevention and control.

Since the launch of the party history study and education campaign, Jiangsu has focused on the needs of the people at the primary level to send 193 thousand doctors to the rural areas and build 211 community family doctor work stations.

Jiangsu has also started to unblock the tough issues of the healthcare services by earmarking 3.63 billion yuan from the Negotiation Medicine Pooling Fund from January to August, benefiting 9.5 million people with a reimbursement ratio of 70.5%. As of October 18, 1,599 retail pharmacies in the province can provide direct settlement of cross-regional drug purchases within the province.

In other developments, Jiangsu is now able to administer 2 million coronavirus shots on a daily basis. In the meantime, the province will start to roll out COVID-19 vaccination for children aged between 3 and 11.

"When preparing for the inoculation, we need kindergartens, schools, teachers to communicate with parents and the vaccination will take place  at community health service centers for safety concerns," said Zhu Min, Deputy Director of Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission.
