Enterprises in east China’s Jiangsu province have exerted their efforts to help ensure the smooth operation of the Beijing Winter Olympics that started on February 4th.
The National Speed Skating Stadium, also known as the "Ice Ribbon", is the only new ice competition venue for this event. This venue is designed and technically supported by COFCO Engineering, headquartered in Binhu District, Wuxi City.
According to the requirements of the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the temperature difference between the ice surfaces in different competitions should be controlled within 1.5 degrees Celsius, but the technical staff of COFCO Engineering kept the temperature difference within 0.5 degrees Celsius.
The National Snowmobile Center track, shaped like a "Snow Dragon" hovering in the mountains, is the first snowmobile track in China and the world's first 360-degree slalom track.
The "weathering steel" developed and produced by Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. is used to build the national snowmobile center track. This material has strong atmospheric corrosion resistance.A company in Suzhou customized the first variable-angle inclined elevator in China next to the main building of the National Ski Jumping Center "Xue Ruyi" according to the characteristics of the venue's track.
Four medical workers from Suzhou were selected for the Beijing Winter Olympics medical security team. After arriving in Beijing in January, they started first aid training during the quarantine period. In order to enter the arena to rescue the wounded, they also received ice skating and skiing training.
