From midnight on September 17, the entire 300 thousand-ton waterway of Lianyungang Port was officially opened to traffic. Lianyungang Port shoulders the responsibility of serving the "Belt and Road" construction and building an export port in the central and western regions.
In 2009, the National Development and Reform Commission approved the construction of a 70.5-kilometer-long 300 thousand-ton waterway in Lianyungang Port.
Since 2011, the project has invested about 12 billion yuan in the construction of waterways and supporting facilities. The headquarters and construction units have overcome key technical problems such as beach stability and waterway back-silting, forming a number of national-level innovative general technologies for the water transportation industry.
Its completion and use are of vital significance for promoting the agglomeration and development of coastal industries, serving the central and western regions, and promoting the construction of the "Belt and Road" intersection in Jiangsu.
The shield tunnel on the right line of the Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel passed through the lowest point of 82 meters underwater, indicating that the excavation has exceeded a length of 2000 meters.
The Jiangyin-Jingjiang Yangtze River Tunnel is located 5 kilometers upstream of the Jiangyin Bridge on the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, connecting Jingjiang to the north and Jiangyin to the south. The tunnel is 6,445 meters long.
The tunnel will effectively divert the inter-city traffic demand between Jingjiang and Jiangyin, which is of great significance for promoting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, strengthening the north-south linkage and cross-river integration.
