East China’s Jiangsu province reported 724,300 new urban job in the first half of this year, thanks to the province’s release of proactive employment policies by strengthening the implementation of the employment priority strategy, improving the public service system for employment, focusing on migrant workers and college graduates, expanding the number of jobs, improving training quality, and implementing subsidy policies.

Nanjing Jiangbei New Area held a youth talent night market recruitment fair, with 33 companies providing over 600 job vacancies, helping many job seekers find their desired jobs.

Jiangbei New Area has released over 1500 internship positions for college graduates with their household registration at the local area.

Suzhou, Yancheng, and Lianyungang organized enterprises to hold night market job fairs to enhance the effectiveness.

“I studied medical information engineering in Xuzhou Medical University and wanted to find a job related to medical software. I am quite interested in some of the companies that provide recruitment opportunities”, Song Tingting, a fresh College Graduate, said.

“From July to August, we prepared 28 entrepreneurial activities in five categories for college graduates, including job recruitment, internships, skill training, entrepreneurial services, perceived experiences, and policy interpretation”, Chen Ying, Deputy Director of the Education and Social Security Bureau of Jiangbei New Area in Nanjing, said.

In response to the structural contradiction of supply and demand mismatch in the job market, Jiangsu has also carried out skill training, providing subsidized training for up to 595.8 thousand people in the first half of the year.

The human resources and social security department in Wuxi has sorted out the job types that are in short supply in the local area, and customized training courses for key groups such as registered unemployed individuals and unemployed graduates. Currently, four training institutions have signed agreements with four enterprises to provide targeted training for qualified personnel.

Qiu Jiayi, 27 years old, is learning to operate fire-fighting facilities. At present, there is a significant shortage of fire protection equipment operators in the local market.

“If I learn one more craft, I will have another job opportunity”, Qiu Jiayi, a resident of Wuxi, said.

“We have provided targeted training for some key groups. After obtaining the certificate, they can enter the corresponding enterprise for employment. We have helped job seekers reduce the blindness of training and job hunting, and better promote the employment of key groups”, Huang Hanshu, Director of the Employment and Entrepreneurship Training Department of Wuxi Labor and Employment Management Center, said.

Jiangsu has continued to strengthen various employment stabilization policies to reduce the burden on enterprises, and encourages enterprises to avoid or reduce layoffs.

In Xuzhou, companies with a layoff rate of no more than 5.5% are entitled to job subsidies. For small and micro enterprises with less than 30 employees, a layoff rate of no more than 20% is considered eligible for the subsidy. The refund amount ranges from 30% to 60% of the actual paid unemployment insurance premium in 2022.At present, Xuzhou has allocated the first batch of stable job return funds, benefiting 17100 local enterprises.

“The enterprise does not need to provide any application materials, and the big data support of the human resources and social security system enables automatic accounting. This year, we have received over 1.6 million yuan in government subsidies”, Niu Peng, Assistant Director of the Human Resources Department of Xuzhou Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., said.

“In the first half of the year, the province’s human resources and social security system implemented various stable employment policies, issued over 10 billion yuan of employment subsidies, and provided over 25 billion yuan of employment and entrepreneurship loans. We will increase support for the policy of stabilizing and expanding positions so as to fully unleash the policy dividend”, Xue Yong, Director of the Employment Promotion Department of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, said.
