Various activities were held Tuesday in Jiangsu province to commemorate the 78th anniversary of Japan's unconditional surrender in World War II. Tuesday marks the 78th anniversary of Japan's acceptance of the Potsdam Proclamation and its unconditional surrender.

Various forms of commemorative activities were held throughout the province to review the history of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and commemorate the revolutionary martyrs.

At the Liu Laozhuang Company Memorial Park of the New Fourth Army, dozens of police officers and auxiliary police officers at the Huai'an Entry Exit Border Inspection Station lined up to commemorate the heroic deeds of the 82 martyrs.

Party members and cadres in Lianyungang and Yancheng visited the revolutionary memorial halls and the red education bases and felt the indomitable spirit of the martyrs by reviewing the revolutionary deeds of the CPC leading the people to resist foreign aggression and defend the country.

“We must behave like the 82 martyrs, faithfully fulfill our duties and continue to make devotion, and forge ahead with a brave and responsible attitude”, Yang Bolin, Police Officer from the Second Squad of Huai'an Entry Exit Border Inspection Station, said.

“Today's happy life is not easy won. As a community worker, I will inherit the glorious tradition of the older generation of revolutionary martyrs. In my future work, I will remember the purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly and better serve the residents”, Zhang Wandong, Deputy Secretary of the Party General Branch of Xuri Community, Yandu District, Yancheng, said.

At 8:15 Tuesday morning, a peace assembly was held at the Public Memorial Square of the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders. The sound of bells echoed over the square for a long time, constantly reminding people to remember historical memories and protect historical truth.

“I think the greatest significance of participating in this event is to once again realize that we must not forget the heinous crimes committed by the Japanese invaders in Nanjing, and must remember history and cherish peace”, Xia Tianxing, one of the first batch of inheritors of historical memory of the Nanjing Massacre, said.

At 9 am on Tuesday, the memorial hall held a light-out ceremony for Ruan Xiuying, Yang Jingqiu, and Gao Hengfa, three survivors of the Nanjing Massacre who passed away recently.
